TIPS TO FALL ASLEEP QUICKER

STAY IN THE KNOW

The truth is that despite my endless self care routines, I still struggle to fall asleep. I literally have so many thoughts running through my mind and it drives me nuts.

I feel like it has a lot to do with the fact that I have such a busy calendar, travel coming up and a shit ton of anxiety, you know?

So, this has been going on for quite some time…

luckily, I’ve found a few MAGICAL solutions for those nights that are beyond annoying.

Long story short… I used to take Advil PM on these nights back in the day. Like college days. This is before I was a holistic freak and realized that Advil is actually NOT good for you, k?

Actually, for those of you who don’t know… Advil PM & many other sleep pills are harmful to your body if taken for long period of times, and makes you more tired! You end up skipping a cycle of sleep. REM sleep ( rapid eye movement ).

No bueno.

I live in Florida. And when you live in Florida… you face hurricane season. 2017 hurricane Irma hit and we lost power. No power means no air conditioning and no air conditioning in the summer means torture.

You are literally stuck in the heat for days after hurricanes like these. Imagine trying to sleep in this!

A huge problem, ok?

This is when I discovered a few natural solutions that absolutely changed my life.

FALL ASLEEP FASTER WITH THESE TIPS

OLLY NUTRITION SLEEP GUMMIES

Pedro and I went to Walgreens and I found Olly Nutrition Sleep Gummies ( not sponsored ). I talk about this a LOT. Literally sounds like a gimmick, right?

No.

I was fucking desperate. I couldn’t sleep. I was so hot. Sweating. Gross. Miserable.

I took two an hour before bed and woke up the next morning.

These gummies are no joke. They make you super sleepy and I’ve taken them everyday since. They are essentially melatonin.

Now, these don’t work for everyone that I’ve recommended them to.

For me personally, they knock me out every single night.

The feedback that I’ve heard from others is that it makes them super tired, relaxed, but doesn’t help them STAY asleep.

I don’t have the issue of STAYING asleep. So, if that’s your issue, theses may or may not help with that. I just want to be totally upfront.

But, they MIGHT! They work amazing for me.

Ok, now here I am on this natural sleep trick kick and I want to take it up a notch. Try a few other variations, ya know?

THE ESSENTIAL OILS

About 3 years ago, I came home one afternoon and felt BEYOND tired. I wasn’t tired before I walked in the door… I walked in and within 10 minutes I was on the couch not wanting to do anything.

This was like 2 pm…

I figured I didn’t sleep well the night before?

I’m walking around our condo and see this thing sitting on the counter.

Hello my aromatherapy + essential oil addiction.

It’s so funny because I always tell Pedro that he is the reason I am so into natural self care solutions. Amazon is like his best friend and he is always discovering new products.

He saw that I was struggling with anxiety, he was lacking energy, so I guess he purchased an aromatherapy diffuser and essential oils.

Pedro had lavender running in the diffuser! I was honestly shocked.

I never believed in the power of essential oils. I thought it was all crap to be honest… but the fact that I felt tired and had no idea why proves that it does work.

Try it. Just let it run for an hour or so before going to bed.

HOW ABOUT A NIGHTTIME ROUTINE?

Another thing that I discovered was that I was going to sleep right after scrolling through Instagram and watching TV. It’s not that I discovered it, it’s that I became aware of my actions.

I put a nighttime routine in place.

I start it about an hour before going to bed and I even have a whole post on it.

This nighttime routine allows me to chill out, relax, destress and calm my mind before falling asleep. I have the lighting dimmed, the aromatherapy diffuser going, a journal, a good book and comfy clothes.

Setting up that calm environment and putting yourself in relaxing space will make you tired, k?

If you haven’t tried these and struggle with sleep, try it. See what works for you. You might be shocked like I was.

To be honest, I wasn’t big into these holistic solutions for sleep. I was so sleep deprived that Advil PM was my holy grail. But then I realized that it made me worse and I didn’t need it.

This could change your life. It changed mine.
