CREATE A HOME SPA FOR LESS THAN $100

I am OBSESSED with the spa and zen lifestyle. It’s my thing. It relaxes me. It’s soothing. It’s my escape, ok?

Going to the spa everyday isn’t always realistic.

…( as much as I’d like it to be ), so I find solutions, right?

As a business owner, I have to be super disciplined and I encounter a lot of stress, and that CAN totally take a toll on my mental health. Love what I do, but it’s important to find ways to relax, calm your mind and take care of your health.

This is something that I have struggled with for a long time.

Here was what my day looked like. Ready?

  • I’d literally wake up early ( still the same like 5 - 6 am )

  • Get to work ( like ASAP )

  • Eat ( chocolate of course with something healthy )

  • Forget to drink water

  • Go for a run

  • Work a bit more

  • Shower & sleep

Seems like an ok day, right?

WRONG.

The problem was that the only ME TIME that I had was a little run during the day. SO, I started incorporating a strict self-care routine into my day ( which I talk about a lot ), and I also wrote a post on it.

Within my self-care routine is something that I’ve created. It’s called my “zen environment.” I’m huge on this. Life changing.

I’m a big believer that your environment has an impact on your mood, ok?

Think about it. If you are sitting at your desk all day long working and you then walk outside for a second to get some fresh air, you feel a bit different, right? Same concept.

Ok, enough blabbering, let’s talk about this at home spa.

My zen environment.

I like to get “in the mood” when I do my morning and nighttime routine. I don’t want to feel like I’m at home. I want to feel like I’m at a luxury spa!

It’s easy peasy and you can create your home spa today!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Himalayan salt lamp

  • Aromatherapy diffuser

  • Essential oils

  • Candles ( this is just the brand I LOVE, but you can use another if you want. Remember, you can do this for under $100, I just have certain products I like. )

  • Oils ( or your favorite self-care products )

  • An app or speaker system ( these are my preferences, but you can use whatever you’d like! Same concept as the candles. You can use whichever you like, this is just what I personally use. So, YES you can still do this for under $100, but I wanted to share the specifics, ya know? )

  • White towels ( this is just my thing )

  • Lemon water ( w/ a cute water bottle if you want & you can easily make this at home )

FYI - I literally added links to EVERYTHING that I use above so that you can easily just click and go.

Now, it’s not JUST about the lighting, scents and sounds. I mean, it is, but it’s what you do with it.

Anyone can light some candles, run an aromatherapy diffuser and listen to the sound of the rain. It’s all about the twist, k?

STEP NO. ONE

Choose a dedicated space

This is your SPA zone. Your zen environment.

I choose my bedroom + bathroom.

STEP NO. TWO

Turn on the “zen”

  • Turn OFF the lights

  • Close any shades

  • Turn on the himalayan salt lamp

  • Light the candles

  • Get the aromatherapy diffuser running with EUCALYPTUS oil or LAVENDER oil ( for relaxation )

  • Download the app, Peaceful Sounds or Relax YogaMusic w/ the sound of the rain

  • Get your white towels out, run them under warm water with a little eucalyptus oil

  • Have your oils ready

STEP NO. THREE

Start your morning OR ( preferably ) nighttime routine

Honestly, what I do is walk OUT of my room, close the door and then walk BACK INTO my room as if it were a spa. ( yes, I know it sounds a bit whack, but this is me ). You are walking into a new world. A zen world.

You have the music, the lighting, the scents, the white towels w/ added oils. It’s like a breath of fresh fucking air if you know what I mean.

You get the warm towels prepared, you have your oils ready. Ok… this is sounding weird, but just wait.

My nighttime routine consists of:

  1. Hydration

  2. Showering

  3. Moisturizing

  4. Meditation

  5. Journaling

  6. Reading

…just to give you an idea. Your nighttime routine can simply be yoga or whatever you want it to be! Remember, this zen environment and home spa is YOU time.

Pedro even hires a personal masseuse! LOL to that.

( are my massage skills inadequate or something? )

Moving on!

So, I’m in this zen environment with the whole spa vibe. I start by…

  • Drinking my lemon water

  • I jump in a warm shower

  • I exfoliate and do my thing

It’s relaxing and winds me down.

My favorite thing to do after shaving + exfoliating is MOISTURIZING. I’m a product whore. What can I say? Love them. So does Pedro. I think he’s worse.

I am OBSESSED with coconut oil & natural moisturizers. At the moment, Kopari is my go-to for all things skin care.

…let’s continue…

Now, I’m out of the shower, I still have the calming sounds, the eucalyptus scent, the lighting and now I moisturize with oils and use my favorite skin-care products.

I walk out of the bathroom “zen environment” into my bedroom “zen environment” ( because remember, I do both ) and I’m feeling clean, fresh and beyond amazing.

Hydration is KEY, and at any spa, they always supply you with water, so I continue drinking my lemon water!

TWIST TIP: ( I actually always have Organic Apple Cider Vinegar in it ).

I’ll literally get into bed naked ( or in silky pajamas ), wrap myself up in my favorite soft blanket and meditate with the app, Headspace.

None of this is sponsored guys, just obsessed.

Just imagine this calming environment and then deep breathing. It’s as if you are in another world.

Once I’m all relaxed and my mind is cleared, I begin journaling. This has been a habit of mine for a LONG time. I get out anything and everything on my mind. I just write.

People ask me all the time, “what do I write?” ANYTHING. Get it out. You’ll be able to sleep better, trust me, ok?

After I journal, I read! For as long as I’d like. No pressure. No set amount of time. I just take time for myself to nourish my mind and I read.

This is how I end my day. This is my home spa. I set the mood, I do my self-care routine and it’s free!
