7 WAYS TO BOOST ENERGY
STAY IN THE KNOW
Do you ever have those mornings where you wake up just feeling like shit? Drained. Tired. Fatigued. Not sick, but just like, lifeless?
I might be a morning person, but I definitely have mornings or even days where I need a boost of energy.
So many people rely on their cup of coffee to help them start the day or keep them going throughout the day, you know?
But, ummmm I’m not a coffee girl…
I feel like I’m that 1% of people in this world who just aren’t about it.
Throughout the years, I’ve tried different ways to give me that little boost of energy when I need it and only a few things have worked for me.
I’m all about finding natural ways to solve everyday problems, so this is my holistic approach.
Oh, and because I’m a self care blog + brand, I just have to say that when you have more energy, you feel GOOD and you’re way more productive.
…and when you’re way more productive, you are less stressed, anxious and probably a hell of a lot happier, k?
I also want to point out that everything that I write about is entirely authentic to me and my life. Nothing is sponsored. These are simply things that work for me and I hope you have the same results!
Now, I’m also not a doctor. There may be underlying reasons as to why you are lacking energy. I’m a serial researcher when it comes to health, and not everything is life threatening, but it’s always good to speak to your doctor.
Let’s dive in, shall we?
NATURAL ENERGY BOOSTERS
I actually feel like a broken record at this point, but there’s a reason for it, k? Dehydration drains our energy. Our life. Our spirit. Everything. It makes us feel spacey. Less focused. Tired. Ugh.
Drinking a glass of water when you feel tired might help wake you up a bit, but I’ve actually found that it helps more when you are consistent.
What I do is…
Drink 2 big glasses of water before I go to bed, so that I wake up feeling hydrated.
Then I drink 2 big glasses when I wake up.
There are 4 glasses of water right there! Easy. Chug it and be done.
I never used to drink water before I went to bed. To be totally real, the thought never even crossed my mind. But then I realized that I woke up feeling “blah,” and thought, “maybe I’m dehydrated?”
So, I started drinking a significant amount of water before bed and noticed a difference in the morning. Then, those 2 glasses in the morning really jolted me.
Throughout the day I drink 4 more 8 oz. glasses of water. Whenever I want.
Fun tip: It really helps to get a fun water bottle and just take it with me everywhere.
This is more of a lifestyle change to add to your current routine.
I know you’re probably wondering like, ok, which vitamins should I take? Tell me already. I’ll get there don’t worry, but let’s talk about things that you can do FIRST to add to your daily routine.
The first thing that I do in the morning is MOVE.
Whether it is 30 minutes or an hour. I move. I have my water, my morning routine and then I walk.
If you can’t walk, do jumping jacks, stretch, sit ups, push ups, at home yoga, lift weights, order resistance bands on Amazon. Do something.
This gets your blood flowing, your heart pumping and it brings you to life a bit!
Take 15 minute breaks every hour.
Walk while you are talking on the phone.
Count your steps!
Try to make it fun, but move! You’ll get a little burst of energy. Even if you don’t feel like doing it.
CHANGE YOUR DIET
If you find yourself eating a lot of sugar…
I mean, there you go. Make a change. Add more vegetables and proteins into your diet.
This is an easy one.
I HAVE to eat chocolate every single night and morning. I’m like not the same Sydney if I don’t. I’m a very hangry Sydney. No one likes that. Especially Pedro…
But, I will tell you that when I consume less chocolate and sugar, I don’t have that “crash.”
I feel good throughout the day.
I’m not a nutritionist either, but I do have a podcast that you might find super valuable if you aren’t sure how to make this change.
I interviewed nutritionist and holistic health expert, Lexi Nazzaro on this topic and she gave me so many great ideas! I’m not even kidding when I say that I went to Whole Foods after…
DRINK GREEN TEA
Ok, green tea is a great alternative to coffee!
It has lots of health benefits which we love, k? But it also has caffeine.
If you want to avoid caffeine, then be my guest and drink the decaffeinated version, but this is just something that I found to be helpful.
Green tea is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that are known for improving brain function, boosting your metabolism and lowering the risk of certain cancers and other health issues.
Give it a try! Drink it in the morning.
You can even drink it cold with some ice!
Summers are brutal here in Miami, so an iced green tea is quite refreshing, you know?
I’ve spoken to a lot of my friends and family about this one. I drink Organic Apple Cider Vinegar everyday.
Do I notice weight loss? Not really TBH.
Do I get sick less? Not really sure.
There are many doctors, health specialists, blogs and people promoting Organic Apple Cider Vinegar for various purposes. A lot of those people have experienced health benefits.
Significant health benefits.
I’ve experienced 2 health benefits.
It gives me a little boost of energy
It helps reduce my acid reflux ( crazy because it’s literally vinegar, but it’s true )
I drink 2 tablespoons of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar 2 times/day with a large glass of water. I do it when I wake up and before bed.
People have had amazing results from drinking Organic Apple Cider Vinegar on the daily. Try it for yourself! You can get it on Amazon!
I saw these at Walgreens one day and bought them. Every article online said to try taking B12 vitamins. They are supposed to help boost your energy. I tried it. I tried it for months actually.
To be honest, I didn’t feel much of a difference. I wanted that coffee spike, you know?
Without the coffee…
So, here I am at Walgreens and I pickup these gummy vitamins praying that they work. The bottle literally says “Focus Your Mind + Revitalize Your Body.” It also says that it is made with natural caffeine & green tea.
I mean… obviously I was all in LOL
You can take 4 every day & they will not let you down.
Order them on Amazon or get them at your local drugstore. I did notice that not every drugstore carries them.
Maybe they just sell out?
Before you take this, consult with your doctor.
So many people don’t realize that they are actually deficient in Vitamin D. Especially those of you in colder climates, ok?
I live in Miami Beach and I am deficient in Vitamin D.
Can boost your metabolism
Reduces the risk of the flu and other health complications
Is great for healthy bones
While Vitamin D is not necessarily an energy booster like Vitamin B, I find that when I take it, I feel good ( obviously because I have a deficiency ), and that makes me more energetic.
Does that make sense or do I sound crazy?
I feel happier. Because of that I have more energy, ok?
Definitely recommend getting tested to see if you have any vitamin deficiencies if you are consistently lacking energy!
A FEW FINAL TIPS
Having a lack of energy sucks and sometimes we just need that little boost to get us through the day. I am right there with you.
I truly believe that a lot of this comes down to diet, your lifestyle and choices that you make.
You can switch out sugary foods for something healthier.
You can drink more water and stay hydrated.
You can work on trying to go to sleep earlier.
You can exercise more.
…but that’s something that you need to be committed to doing! Making that lifestyle change.
I think with those changes alone, you’ll feel like a new person.
Is it easy? No way. I struggle. Like I said, I need my daily chocolate. I’m never giving that up.
But, I have noticed a difference by making the choice to stay hydrated, move more and eat healthier.
Try these other tricks that I shared and send me any of your tips for a natural energy boost!
I hope you found this post valuable.
I’m off to drink my 2 glasses of water with Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.
