Your self-care routine is the key to improving your mental health, k?

Feel your best to live your best life. That is literally my motto. Self-care is the main ingredient in a happy life. If you have a crazy and chaotic schedule like me, then you are going to love my top tips for making yourself a priority every. single. fucking. day.

Imagine waking up in the morning and getting straight to work on that laptop, or getting dressed, grabbing that coffee and going right into the office. Sucks, right? It’s like you don’t even have any time for yourself. You wake up and the first thing you think about is work.

Not healthy, ok?

Then, you’re at work all day, you’re stressed, you have lunch, you go back to work, you come home and you are just so tired, right? Relatable. I know. It can be tough to even fit in a good workout.

…but let me help ya out!

Don’t you ever wish you just had 30 minutes to yourself where you can indulge in whatever the hell it is that you want? Well, you can and you should.

Making time for yourself should always be a priority. I know how tough it can be to feel like you don’t have enough time in the day, but you can significantly improve your efficiency, productivity and stress levels by incorporating self-care into your daily routine.

Even some of the most successful people in the world talk about self-care routines. Tony Robbins for example. He works out and meditates every morning before he begins his day. When you feel good, you do good and if you don’t feel good, you probably won’t do as good, you know?

You need to take care of your mind and body, and by doing so, you will notice an overall improvement when it comes to how you present yourself throughout the day.

Oh! …and how you respond to situations ;)

My Self-Care Routine at a Glance

I believe that self-care routines for the day ACTUALLY begin the night before. You want to wake up feeling refreshed and well rested. When you begin your morning routine at night, you are setting yourself up for a better day.

8:30 pm - I begin winding down and drink two 8 oz. glasses of water

8:45 pm - I jump in the shower so that I can go to sleep feeling clean!

9:00 pm - I take off my makeup ( if I am even wearing any ) and I begin my skin care routine:

  • Take off my make up with the Neutrogena Make Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes ( literally the BEST make up removing wipes that have ever been on this planet )

  • I then rinse my face with cold water and gently pat it dry using a wash cloth.

  • Then I use my Facial Radiance Pads by First Aid Beauty to exfoliate my skin ( only once/day )

  • Followed up by a little moisturizer ( I use Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer )

9:30 pm - I go through my emails and DM’s for about 30 minutes to respond to any messages that I may have. It is really important for me to get back to my clients and all of you in the community!

10:00 pm - I meditate for 5 minutes using the app Headspace

10:15 pm - I jump in bed and grab a book! ( but also watch TV at the same time )

snoooooooze time!

My Morning Self-Care Routine

6:00 am - Alarm goes off ( but I’m usually already up chilling in bed )

6:10 am - I drink two 8 oz. glasses of water and take my vitamins ( Vitamin D3 and a multi-vitamin for women )

6:15 am - I meditate for 10 minutes using the app Headspace

6:30 am - I put on my workout clothes and go for an hour walk to get some fresh air, clear my mind and think about all that I am grateful for

7:30 am - Shower time! I shower in cold water to wake me up. I usually exfoliate prior to getting in the shower as well.

7:50 am - Grab a comfy, yet cute outfit ( unless I have a meeting ), I open the shades throughout the house and I eat breakfast:

  • 2 no sodium rice cakes

  • Organic peanut butter ( any from Whole Foods will do )

  • Sliced peanut butter on top

*You can add coconut flakes ( I rarely do, but it’s delish! )

8:15 am - I make my bed ( once Pedro gets up ), grab my phone, respond to all emails and begin my day!

Self-care routines are not just for the morning and night. I also find time during the day to get in a good workout, even if it’s as simple as a 30 minute walk. You need to get moving throughout the day. Exercise has many benefits, and can also help to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. Overall, just a must for mental health improvement.
