After traveling through Europe for a couple of weeks, I was feeling anxious with all of the work that I had missed, you know?

All of the emails that I had to catch up on, client meetings and my endless to-do list. If you know me by now, you know my obsession with aromatherapy and holistic remedies for these situations.

I needed some positive reinforcement or form of relaxation to kick start my week and put me in the right state of mind if you know what I mean.

So, I did some research and found a beautiful spa located in the Miami Design District. I obviously found it fitting to go and check out their aromatherapy massage, which had fabulous reviews!

What is an aromatherapy massage?

An aromatherapy massage is a Swedish massage that uses massage oils and/or lotions that contain essential oils. When you receive an aromatherapy massage, you will also inhale the essential oils!

Eména Spa had a soothing vibe, calming environment and was very clean. Cleanliness in a spa is something that I look for FIRST to be totally honest, and this was at a 10.

…but, was this aromatherapy massage actually worth the money? Would it actually help to reduce my stress, tension and anxiety?

Aside from my first impression of the spa itself being at a 10, the service was impeccable. I met Ken Bower, Spa Director who could not have been MORE accommodating.

I’ve been to many spas before, and while the calming environment is wonderful, having a staff of people who clearly love what they do makes all the difference. Just had to point that out, ok?

Now, let’s dive into the good stuff. The massage itself.

The experience, aromatherapy, the results & benefits.

My masseuse was Manuela. Um, definitely ask for her when you visit! When she first introduced herself and shook my hand she had such a light touch that I figured this would just be relaxing.

…and I was ok with that.

Let’s get into the nitty gritty though. Not only was it relaxing, but she was a lot stronger than I had thought! She made sure that I was comfortable throughout the entire massage, took her time, was gentle while still getting out all of the knots in my back. The experience overall was fabulous.

…and if we are being totally real here, I have tons of knots in my back from the stress of constantly working from my computer, hitting the gym without stretching and life itself. We’ve all been there, right?

I DID go in asking for a relaxing massage, but ALSO to remove any knots. We don’t need those in our life. Just giving you the specific details.

Was getting the knots out painful? A bit, but AGAIN, Manuela was cautious and always making sure that I was ok. I told her to do what she had to do. I have to tell you… I felt SO MUCH relief after.

I’ve had massages before where I get uncomfortable and am in pain. Where I feel like the masseuse isn’t listening to my needs. Where I feel like it might not be the right fit, ok? Sometimes we think that pain is good, but can leave us feeling worse after. I’ve had that happen to me.

That was not my experience here & this isn’t a sponsored post.

I love a good massage, but the aromatherapy makes all of the difference to me personally.

At home, I always have eucalyptus oil going and lavender at night. My aromatherapy diffuser is my LIFE. It’s that at home spa vibe that I love. It reduces my stress + anxiety and that is what this is all about, right?

Manuela used:

  • Rosemary

  • Eucalyptus

  • Lavender

I’ve had aromatherapy massages before, but this was by far the best experience to date.

…and look how zen the massage room was?

I loved all of the candles + the oils sitting out! The room lighting was dark, so I couldn’t get a photo of the room - sorry, everyone!

It’s not just about the beautifully decorated massage room, with therapeutic music, but the scents just top it off in my opinion.

…well, I pushed back my afternoon appointments and went home to take an hour nap.

  1. First of all, I don’t nap.

  2. Second of all, I have the most difficult time falling asleep.

Can anyone relate? So, I would say that this massage was a hit for me!

If you are stressed out, anxious and need relief, I would highly recommend this massage + Eména Spa. A one-time treatment will definitely help you chill out.

BUT - I have to give you the specifics because I did ask Manuela about what was REALLY necessary.

She gave me the scoop.

Because my goal is to share honest reviews of various wellness treatments, and what I personally experienced, I want to share:

  • How often you need this massage?

  • Is it truly worth investing in?

  • What are the benefits?

I am going to share Manuela’s suggestions & then the benefits that I personally experienced!

1. How often do you need this massage?

Manuela suggested that when you initially begin aromatherapy massages, you want to come back every 10 days to release any additional tension, and THEN once/month is more than enough.

2. Is it truly worth investing in?

As someone who suffers from severe anxiety and faces stress on the daily, I would invest in an aromatherapy massage treatment. Treat yourself every so often. It’s like therapy. It felt like an escape. This one was worth it. Your heath + your mental health is everything. Without it, what do you have?

Where do I even begin… This is what I noticed.

  • Reduced pain in my neck and upper back

  • Reduced anxiety

  • Decreased stress ( which also eased any depressed feelings )

  • Helped to reduce headaches ( I suffer from migraines )

  • Improved my sleep

  • Helped to improve circulation ( I am a runner, so my body aches all the time )

…and what I found to be even better, was that later on in the evening, I had a boost of energy! I am such a morning person that a boost of energy at night is abnormal for me.

Is the aromatherapy massage at Eména Spa Sydney approved?
