WHY NOT?

My favorite quote is by Richard Branson.

“If someone offers you an amazing opportunity and you’re not sure you can do it, say yes - then learn how to do it later.”

The thought of doing something that you don’t know how to do is terrifying, right?

WHY DO I MENTION THIS?

I mean, I started a marketing agency at 21 years old without a degree in marketing.

I am 100% self taught. I took a job as the marketing director of a luxury company in Miami Beach without any experience at 20 years old.

I took the opportunity because it was an amazing opportunity. It was something that I thought I’d enjoy. It was something that I thought I’d learn a lot from. It was something that felt right.

Hello! Here I am today…

This obviously isn’t me by the way… but you get the point, k?

One challenge after the next. One struggle after the next. I pushed through and continue to push through today because WHY NOT?

I disciplined myself!

You know I’m all about self care, but self care also has a lot to do with self love and self love has a lot to do with mental health and sometimes we need a little motivation to make sure that we can take care of ourselves, ok?

Long sentence, but so true.

THIS IS KIND OF LIKE A PEP TALK

Well, it’s more than a pep talk, you know? It’s a talk that I have with myself on a daily basis. I’m not perfect. I make mistakes. I fail. I grow. I’ve succeeded. I’ve failed some more. I’m 25 and I’m not stopping.

So, I figured why not share my thought process.

My thought process is simple.

Why not?

I ask myself this question everyday.

  1. It puts life in perspective.

  2. It makes me think.

  3. It pushes me beyond my limits.

  • Sometimes we get tired and we don’t want to start or complete a task.

  • Sometimes we don’t believe we can accomplish something & doubt our abilities.

  • Sometimes an opportunity comes our way and we don’t think we are ready.

BUT - why not?

  • Why not go after what we want?

  • Why not finish that project?

  • Why not finish that task?

  • Why not make that phone call?

  • Why not go to that interview?

  • Why not write that book?


  • Why not start that business?

  • What is stopping you?


YOURSELF. YOUR MIND. YOUR MENTALITY. YOUR LIFESTYLE. YOUR HABITS.

Why not is a powerful question. It’s a simple question.

HERE IS AN EXERCISE TO TRY!

If you are ever facing a challenge in life, I want you to create a “Why Not Chart.”

Obsessed with this. I came up with this idea a few years ago.

You can write it on a piece of paper, a Word doc, wherever.

WHY NOT CHART

STEP BY STEP WHAT TO DO

( btw ) I love making shit easy for you.

  1. Open a Word doc or grab a piece of paper ( add fun pens if you’d like to make it interesting, ya know? )

  2. Write out something that you want and are not doing.

  3. Write out WHY you want to do whatever it is you are not doing.

  4. Write out all of the reasons WHY NOT ( bullet points, k? )

  5. Next to all of the reasons WHY NOT, write a solution.

Guys, this is going to help you turn your process around, ok?

This is going to help you take that next step.

Keep that chart handy and use it whenever you are struggling! Or even whenever you are questioning whether or not to go after something.

This applies to anyone looking to make a major change in life. Start a business. If you are a student facing a challenge. Anyone can benefit!

THE TRUTH IS…

At the end of the day we have 2 choices if we want to achieve our goals.

To pursue what we want or to not pursue what we want.

I hate excuses. I talk about it in a majority of my posts. Ew. Sorry to be blunt. But, we deserve to be happy! To feel fulfilled. To accomplish our goals.

…and we can!

Because why not?

We get in the way of ourselves. We are afraid of ourselves.

I recently wrote a post about questioning yourself & how it needs to stop if you want to be successful, ok? Successful in whatever it is that you want in life.

The next time you find yourself feeling vulnerable, anxious, stressed, in the midst of a challenge, ask yourself why not?

Better yet, start your day by asking yourself, “why not?”
