FEAR ENDS WHEN YOU DECIDE IT ENDS

THE JOURNEY OF FEAR

When I was 19, I had the opportunity to go to Israel. My parents signed me up and I was terrified. It was a tough decision and I honestly didn’t want to go. I was going to be with a big group and I was painfully shy.

  • I was afraid of talking to people.

  • I was afraid of feeling alone.

  • I was afraid of not making friends.

  • I was afraid of being left out.

  • I was afraid of feeling vulnerable.

When I got there, they made us do group activities to get to know each other. That’s what scared me. I didn’t want to do any of it.

  • I didn’t want to be judged.

  • I didn’t want people to think I was weird.

  • I didn’t want people to even look at me.

As I started getting to know everyone, I was able to open up, face my fears and do what scared me.

  • I spoke in front of the group.

  • I made new friends.

  • I was included.

What happened was that I realized that my fears came from past experiences of being left out. Of being judged. Of feeling alone. This trip allowed me to see life from a new perspective. This trip allowed made me understand that fear exists in our minds and we can decide when it ends by facing it.

This trip was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. It changed my life. I am tearing up writing this just because I am thinking about it. You just never know what can happen when you push yourself because you don’t know what is on the other side of fear, k?

HOW TO FACE YOUR FEARS

I had spent most of my life so fearful of situations like these. Situations that put me out of my comfort zone and situations that made me wonder. Because when I would start to wonder, my mind would INSTANTLY go to the negative.

Ever experience that before?

If you want to know how to face your fears, this is your answer.

You just do it.

When something scares you, do it regardless. No matter how much anxiety you might experience, push yourself. Do what you don’t feel like doing. The reward is much greater and when we push ourselves to do things that scare us, we end up in the place we are meant to be.

Fear exists in our minds. It is a very real feeling, but it exists in our mind. The only way for it to end is to just face what scares you.

You might not realize in the moment, but looking back you will be able to see your personal growth and development.

The only way to grow in life and push ourselves further to get to what we want is to get uncomfortable and face what is in our way.

You just do it.

It’s important to acknowledge the fear, ok? Pushing it aside makes it easy for you to avoid fear. Avoiding fear will not help you to overcome whatever obstacle is standing in your way.
